COMPOSE presented at the University of Genova Gas Dynamics Course

I recently had the opportunity to present the MSCA programme and the COMPOSE project to students in the Gas Dynamics track at the University of Genova. The presentation was part of the course curriculum, where I shared insights into both the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions framework and my research within COMPOSE.

During the lecture, I discussed the motivation for the shift toward high-speed low-pressure turbines in the context of achieving net zero emissions, highlighting the role of European innovation programmes in driving these advancements. I also presented my PhD research on the aerodynamics of high-speed low-pressure turbines, connecting fundamental research to practical applications in the energy transition.

The session provided an excellent opportunity to consolidate the students’ learning in gas dynamics, covering topics such as low-speed transformations using the non-linear compressible potential flow equation and its linearized version. We explored the application of the Prandtl-Glauert, Karman-Tsien, and Laitone transforms to turbomachinery components, emphasizing the complexity of turbomachinery blading aerodynamics.

I would like to extend special thanks to Prof. Daniele Simoni for inviting me to participate in the lectures and allowing me to share my experience with the students. It was a rewarding experience to engage with the next generation of engineers working in fluid dynamics.
